My newest hobby

Last summer I attempted to teach myself how to crochet. I grew up watching my mom
do this but never had the itch to try it myself.
I watched a few you tube videos, practiced chaining rows upon rows
and then put it aside.

This past November I decided to put down all the books I'd been reading and
perfect the art of crocheting.

I am now addicted to it. Over Thanksgiving I spent the drive to and from Georgetown
and Arkansas crocheting, crocheting and more crocheting.
I made 4 scarfs, 3 bow-ties, boot cuffs and chunky head bands.

I always had my own afghan. Every couple of years my mom would make me a new one.
I will admit, back then I didn't want a crocheted blanket.
However I look back now and love that my mom took HOURS upon HOURS working her fingers around each piece of yarn, clearing her head, dedicating her time, and loving every minute of it.

I made my first afghan for my own daughter and I loved every minute of it.
The best part is, she loves her blanket.

Stay tuned.
Drew wants a MINECRAFT afghan.
I'm half way done with it.

Tiny Dancer

I figured since Drew is busy with swim, I need to get Ainsley involved in something. Her swim lessons will not start for a few months so I decided on gymnastics or ballet. We got to try each class to see which one we would prefer to do.

Gymnastics was great.
Ains loved it!!
She would constantly look at me, smile and wave!!!

It was loud.
There is one other class going on in her gym and 3 classes in the bigger gym across the hall.
It was loud.
She would make the 6th person in the class making it full.
It was loud.

Ballet was phenomenal.
Ains loved it!
She followed directions and was pretty darn good at it.

It is quiet.
We are past both gyms and down a hallway all by ourselves.
It is peaceful.
There is only 2 other girls in the class.
It was calm.

Needless to say my child voted to attend gymnastics.
I vetoed her vote because she already does tumble bus once a week at school.
 Ballet it is.

That's why they say "Mother Knows Best".

Texas Gold

In December we had another swim meet.
Again, Drew smoked everyone and won 1st place in all his events.

Drew & Aiden.
They are like peaanut butter and jelly.

Somebody was very happy that Uncle David and Aunt Christen came to watch.

And we celebrate the night with another Boerckel/Grissom gathering....

followed by a dance party.

December Gatherings

Christmas break was a great time to spend quality time with our friends.

Erin lives up the street and rides the school bus with Drew everyday.
She has been a great Loom Bracelet tutor for us.
Luckily she has not started charging us yet.

We celebrated Aiden's birthday at Bricks for Kids giving the kids a Minecraft themed party.

We had play dates with Quinn... or as Ainsley calls her, "Quinny".

and last but not least, Andy and I had a our Crossfit holiday party with a "Vegas" theme.

New Years Eve- 2014

We ended our 2013 year with 1 of his favorite things and 1 of mine.
San Antonio Spurs, JW Marriott.

That's how a marriage works.

After the game we headed straight back to the resort for big party.
We chatted, laughed and waited for midnight.

still waiting...

During our wait Andy managed to find a taco truck cruising outside.
That helped pass the time.

Hooray!!!! It's officially 2014!!
Despite the 50 kids under the age of 3 (they lasted longer than we did) we managed to have a great time.

The Night Before Christmas

After our dinner at the neighbor's we got home and noticed that Badger the elf, left a very special gift (matching PJ's) and a sweet goodbye letter for the kids.

It was pretty late when we arrived back at our house so we hurried and put the kids jammies on, teeth brushed and rushed outside to leave food for the reindeer.
