Christmas Day

I can't believe that Christmas has come and gone.

The kids woke up around 7 am and Drew walked into the living room shouting, "Oh my goodness!!!!"

After we opened our stocking we walked into the family room where all the presents were!!!
I was excited to see Ainsley's face when she saw her tricycle. She opted to ride her bike and skip opening the rest of her presents.

After we sat and ate breakfast and enjoyed the morning we packed up and headed to Dallas to spend the day with my family. We first went to my Grandpa's house so visit all my aunts, uncles and cousins.

Let me go back a few hours..... while we were in Georgetown, I asked Andy what the weather was going to be like. Without any hesitation he replied that it was going to be warm.
My instincts kicked in and I decided to pack a light jacket JUST IN CASE.

As were were on the drive up I could tell that the sun was not going to show it's face so I decieded to check the weather on my phone. I was surprised when it showed that it would be snowing in Dallas!!!!!

Therfore, when the snow finally arrived, I allowed my children to spend 2 minutes in the freezing tempature with a light jacket.

After that we headed down to my parents for more presents at their house.

All the cousins: Landon (2), Mady (3 months), Ainsley (22 mths), Harper (5), Issac (1), Lexi (5), Drew (4), Will (3).

Tis the Season

A few weeks ago my school threw a Holiday Bash one weekend so I took the kids and we headed that way. While waiting in line for Santa I was busy prepping Ainsley on what to expect. She was really excited by got really scared once it was her time.

Drew wrote his letter to Santa and was very proud to be able to read it back to him.

One of my favorite things to do with the kids is to decorate their Christmas trees in their own room.
This was the first year that Drew took full rein of his own tree. He decided what decorations to put on and where. Despite my need to control and OCD, I was able to walk away and let him have his fun!

I spent a couple of nights cutting and glueing felt on ornmants to match Ainsley's room. I'm glad I did because her tree was so cute!!!!

After church on Christmas Eve we headed outside to throw out the food for the reindeer. Or in Ainsley's case, eat the reindeer food. Ewwww

 It was a special night.

It was a weekend night.

It called for a celebration.

Our celebration included hot coco, marshmallows and sprinkles.

1st Game for the WHOLE Family

Since the last home game was at 11 am it gave us the opportunity to take Ainsley to her first game of the season. We got to the stadium around 9 and headed to the tailgate. Ainsley did great!!! She managed to stuff her face for 2 hours before the game.

The Tri Delt's sell the athletic booklets before every sporting event and I thought it would be funny to take a picture!

Ainsley was a trooper during the game. She loved all the fireworks and when she
saw everyone jumping up and down.

Drew has become OBSESSED with TCU!!! He has  TCU poster's all over his room
and has almost memorized the TCU fight song.

Needless to say that obsession has carried over to my daughter.
She loves to cheer "Rah Rah TCU" over and over and over.
Every time she sees a football game on TV she YELLS, "TCU, TCU".

It was really cute, however, I pray for the day that my kids can go 1 day without the word "TCU".

Until next season.....

Family Pictures

We took our pictures at Dallas Baptist University this time around. Even though I lived in Dallas for 18 years, I never had the opportunity to visit DBU.
It is a TINY school and completely gated so if you live on campus your stuck with a tight curfew.
Despite the size, the campus is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!

My sweet Ainsley Kean at 21 months old.

The courageous Andrew Ashford at 4 1/2 years old.

Apparently this picture has caused some confusion so let me clarify.

The "5" DOES NOT stand for "family of 5".

It DOES stand for "5 years of martial bliss".

The Boerckel's are a VERY HAPPY family of 4.

It's a Wonderful Thanksgiving

While I was inside cooking the Thanksgiving lunch, the kids were outside playing in the yard, on the trampoline and an occasional bike ride.

After the 10 hours of cooking, and 20 minutes of eating, I had prepared a Photo Scavenger Hunt for the afternoon. I was anxious to lead "Team Cornucopia" to a win, leaving Andy's "Team Gobbler" in the dust.
Lets just say that the winner is still "to be determined".

Since TCU was playing in Austin, Andy scored tickets for him and Jason to go.
They had a great time, but not as much fun as Kim & I did screaming at the TV!

The next night we headed to the Square for the lighting on the Christmas lights. They had a interactive singing group that sang songs and even got the kids involved.
The stores stayed open up late for extra shopping.
